Star Coin 1: S Star Coin 2: S Star Coin 3: S Because breaking blocks can't be done in Single Player, you'll have to let the meteors destroy them to reach it. Then the third coin is surrounded by tons of more blocks (with a spring to bounce up to it). To get through, you can either destroy the bottom one with the Buzzy Beetle, or let the meteors do so. The dark platform nearby will also sink when coins are on it.Ĭoin 3 is at the end, past the tower of blocks (next to the green pipe). The second has to be dropped by a Pow Block before the meteors destroy the blocks that it would land on. The first one is in the air before the checkpoint, but reachable from the tilting platform and keeping up the momentum. The Star Coins don't pose much of an issue without Power Ups, you just have to stay sharp because of the aforementioned hazards. But as I got better and better at the game, I developed some good speed running tactics on this level. 8-1 is another level that I had to use Luigi's Super Guide on for my first solo playthrough. Buzzy Beetles are the only main enemies in this level. The latter is instant death like lava, no matter what Power Ups you have. These include lava (obviously), lava geysers, volcanic debris (meteors), and of course poison gas following up from behind. As per usual, I would recommend checking out the previous posts on this challenge to know the jist of it and how far I've come. This time, we're moving onto the final main world of New Super Mario Bros Wii for my No Power Ups Challenge: World 8.
